The Garden of Dreams in the middle of chaos in Kathmandu
Just five minutes walking from Thamel, this Garden of Dreams is a sort of paradise in the middle of the concrete jungle and chaos of Kathmandu.
The Garden of Dreams also known as the Garden of Six Seasons, is a beautiful neo-classical garden in Kathmandu. It was built in 1920 and designed by Kishore Narshingh, it consists of 6,895 square metres of gardens with three pavilions, an amphitheater, ponds, fountains, and lawns. Garden of dreams was recently restored with the help of the Austrian government.
Garden is full of unique architect and varieties of flowers and fauna brought from the different countries. It is a European type of garden, which is very different like others in Nepal. It is popular for locals, especially for Nepali couples as a romantic getaway.
There is small entrance fee 200 rupiah per person. Inside the garden is nice and ancient restaurant, which is very expensive, compared to others in Kathmandu, but you are paying for the setting, for peace and quiet environment. You have to pay entrance fee even if you want to visit the only restaurant.
Althought the garden is much smaller than I expecting, I enjoyed it, because it is difference to walking through Kathmandu all day.
